Microneedling
Microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy) is now a well-known treatment option for skin rejuvenation. More simply, Microneedling is a use of needles or microneedles to achieve a therapeutic effect. This triggers the skin’s natural repair process, stimulating collagen and elastin production. Treatments are performed at 2-4 weeks intervals and multiple sittings are needed to achieve the desired effect and skin. The result will not be shown immediately because new collagen continues to be laid down for approximately 3-6 months.

Who is a good candidate for microneedling treatment?
Microneedling is a great treatment for everyone; although Fitzpatrick skin types V-VI should consult with their skincare professional prior to treatment as it may trigger a pigment response in the skin. In addition, anyone with active acne, infection or lesions in the area to be treated should wait until the skin has cleared before treatment. Any scar area should be assessed for suitability before treatment.
Pre-treatment:
- No skin exfoliation a week prior to your treatment.
- If you have ever had a cold sore and we are treating near your lips, you should have a prescription antiviral on hand.
What to expect during treatment:
Treatment takes about an hour depending upon the area being treated. Topical anaesthetic will be applied to ensure your comfort.
Does it hurt?
This is a comfortable treatment with the use of numbing agent. Your skin may feel slightly sunburnt for a day or two after the treatment.
How many microneedling treatments do I need?
The number of treatments required varies from person to person. However, a minimum of 3 treatments are recommended in achieving lasting results.
Post-treatment:
After your treatment, your skin will be red and flushed similar as a moderate sunburn. You might also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area that was treated. However, this will be diminished greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24 hours the skin will be completely healed.
How long does the result last?
The results lasts from 6 months to a year depending on your skincare routine and lifestyle.
